Since 1967 the Evergreen College in Olympia Washington has been known for one of the most liberal schools in the United States. There’s a common stereotypical thought that Evergreen is a big school for cannabis users.
During my orientation today I found out that this couldn’t be further from the truth, the administration said cannabis is not allowed on campus. This isn’t a big surprise but what caught me off guard was the next statement.
“Even if you have a green card aka a doctor’s authorization cannabis is not allowed on campus, you may not smoke cannabis in the designated smoking areas. If you draw attention to yourself that you use cannabis, attention will find you…”
Smoke your cigarettes and pollute the air by spreading cancer through second hand smoke no problem but smoke cannabis to help with pain, ADD, ADHD, anxiety or treat cancer and you’ll be given a citation and possible expulsion from Evergreen!
Research is proving that cannabis is healthier than cigarettes. Cannabis smoke does not impair long function permanently and does not cause cancer. Yet you can go smoke a cigarette which has been directly linked to lung cancer and throat cancer
One of the reasons Evergreen is against cannabis patients is because the school receives federal grants and cannabis is still illegal on the federal level. However while the feds outlawed cannabis the citizens of Washington voted and legalized cannabis for medical and recreational use.
I think the fact my doctor wrote an authorization for cannabis should overrule any outcry from the school. After all what’s the difference if I take hard opiates and show up to class all drugged up.
If you’re saying cannabis isn’t allowed you should probably get rid of Tylenol, Excedrin and Advil. Oh wait you won’t because it’s legal on the federal level, I’m not asking Evergreen to stand against the feds. That’s my job as a citizen to speak out against a corrupt and unjust group of agencies and politicians.
What I am asking Evergreen to consider is to stand strong with the backing of its unique history and its popularity among young adults to help all students with medical cannabis requirements. I would not attend a school that told me I couldn’t take medicine to heal myself.
What are the students living on campus supposed to do if they can’t medicate with cannabis if they have an authorization for cannabis from their doctor? How do you think they feel, being told to sacrifice health for education and to be given a feeling of constant stress. The stress can’t be good for the ability to learn. How in fact does a college have the legal ability to determine what is and what isn’t a medication?
The argument is this, as a medical cannabis patient and advocate I find it unjust that a school can dictate whether or not my authorization from my doctor is legit and can punish me for using medicine.

As we meet new friends and interact with the world in general we come across people who have very little awareness for their social interactions. Let’s focus just on people holding a conversation.
The repeater, this group of people will tell you a story and its usually a good story. You enjoy the story but the next fifteen times you hear it you’ll hate yourself. Soon you start hating the person who keeps telling you all the same stories because they talk so much they forget who they tell what to who.
The uhms, you’re sentence shouldn’t be made up of 95% uhm. Uhm, I uhm, was uhm, walking uhm, to the store uhm, uhm, uhm, I uhm, saw a dog uhm, uhm Yeah.
The boomerang, the worst of the worst! You can talk about anything and no matter what a boomerang will turn the conversation back on to themselves and their problems. They’ll even ask leading questions to guide the topic back to a relatable one about themselves.
These three types are the most annoying people in my opinion to talk with!

Medical marijuana has been in Washington for a while now and just recently they legalized recreational use. We medical users new that we’d be over looked when they started changing the laws around our medicine.
Science has proven that marijuana fights cancer, does this not get it classified as medicine? Even the United States government has come out and said marijuana attacks cancer cells. Yet we are now paying for recreational use to treat our pain, depression, anxiety.
Before the 37% tax a good gram cost $10, a gram is like two pills from your pharmacy. This varies from person to person but most medical users go through about 4 grams a week. That’s $160 a month. Let’s go ahead and add that tax on, wow !
We’re looking at a grand total of $219 for a months’ worth of medicine. This my friends is going to harm a lot of low income patients who rely on medical marijuana to help with issues their state provided insurance won’t cover.
Let’s talk about the reason they taxed medical marijuana, biggest reason was to address the black market concern. By taxing the medical grade pot the state ensures that people trying to avoid paying recreational prices will still get taxed for having fun.
Sadly this affects the true users of medical marijuana, instead of adding a tax what needs to be done is stricter control over handing out medical cards. Either that or tax the cards themselves, I rather pay a yearly fee of $250 or so to keep my ten dollar gram.
Why am I fighting for the removal of this tax? In 1990 I was diagnosed with cancer of the eyes, by age two I was completely blind. The radiation they used to fight the cancer caused second generation tumors when I was six.
In 1996 I was diagnosed with a tumor that was eating its way through my skull and was at the same time working its way into my brain. After six months of chemo I underwent a ten hour surgery to remove the large mass. The surgeons had to completely tear my skull apart and put it back together using screws, plates and wires, which causes chronic pain and headaches. I dealt with these pains with pain pills and options that really failed to help long term.
I recovered from the surgery and didn’t have to face tumors until I was twelve. In total I have had 5 tumors removed between the time I was 6 until I was 18. At age 14 I was diagnosed with a tumor wrapped around my third trigeminal nerve causing trigeminal neuralgia, a nerve condition that causes chronic pain along the face and forehead.
Imagine a hot wire being pressed against your face, it never goes away and pain pills hardly are able to drop the level of pain. Along with very painful parts of my face and forehead there are numb spots as well and they will stay that way.
Because of all the pain pills I’ve had to take I now have neuropathy in my right hand which adds more chronic pain. I can’t hold anything hot or cold without it feeling like my hand is covered in acid. I also struggle to play piano and guitar because my hand has lost a large amount of strength. My insurance won’t cover the treatments to help my hand!
Let’s recap, trigeminal neuralgia, chronic pain from multiple surgeries and neuropathy in my right hand caused by opiates equals a vast amount of pain. Most of which isn’t being controlled by pills like methadone aka synthetic heroin, morphine, OxyContin and Percocet.
So what works? Turns out using marijuana as a teen showed me the right way to handle my pain control, I moved to Washington and got my medical card. Ever since than my quality of life has improved, I’ve cut my opiate intake by half and I’m able to play guitar and piano without having to stop every two minutes.
This tax is forcing me to go back on opiates because they’re the cheaper option even though they hardly work. For every pill I take I risk the shutdown of my kidneys and liver and my stomach. Opiates are rough on the teeth as well and I’ve already had 4 or five pulled in the last 3 years. I fear that I’ll be facing depression and chronic pain that will make me unable to function normally.
I ask you does this sound like a fun existence? It’s not and I’m really not sure what’s going to happen in the next few months without proper pain control. I also ask you this, should someone who doesn’t use medical marijuana be able to make big decisions like taxes without knowing the true effects?
Science fiction and thieves verses assassins!
I’ve been a very busy dude, sleeping, practicing guitar, oh and writing pages and pages of notes. After some serious thinking I switched my major focus from psychology to a degree in writing. I’m always writing short stories and I have multiple plots in my head. The second I changed my degree from Psychology to writing I felt a weight lifted from off my shoulders.
I’ve been creating two universes for two books I’m writing.
My number one book is based out of a sci-fi universe and like all great space operas it’s got evil verses good, Machine verses flesh and blood and smart asses verses dumb asses. The great empire has changed over the last 7 decades under the control of a douche bag emperor. A team of people will work to bring in a new age of freedom.
The second book is based in a fantasy world and the lead character isn’t the usual underdog stereo typical hero. Without giving it all away he will face world ending challenges and be forced to choose the fate of entire kingdoms and realms.
Dwarves party in huge underground cities while dragons live in huge cloud cities, warlocks battle for power while wizards shape the kingdoms and realms they watch over. The shadow and glowing folk help keep the balance between the dark and the light.
I’m giving to much away already but as I keep writing more and more I’ll post small bits from the books. I never expected to release any of my books but the more and more my friends and family read my works they kept telling me to keep writing and to publish.
Well I’m off to go write a few more scenes before I hit the land of dreams and nightmares. Take care internet surfers!

Oh man just downloaded this new album for The Dirty Heads! Sound of change is going to become this weeks most listened too album on my phone. With drums on the run and guitar chords that won’t stop these dudes have done it again.
As the album name suggests they’ve changed their music a bit but it’s nothing we could of expected. Don’t be scared Once you hear it your like man that’s gotta be the Dirty Heads, then you hear the vocals and it’s for sure Duddy B and J.
We’re talking some great beats mixed with some awesome rap lines. Not your thing, check out the relaxed tunes as well. These guys expanded their style and did a great job. I’m still letting the album play on repeat so I can find my favorite hooks and beats. “My Sweet Summer” is my favorite right now and it has a trippin’ melodic rift.
